We are pleased to present the second video lesson in the Erasmus+ project Keep It Short and Simple: Introduction to Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired Persons (KISS: Intro 2 AT 4 VIPs), coordinated by the Split County Association of Blind People (Croatia), alongside our project partners La Brújula Formación Inclusiva S.L. (Spain) and the Intermunicipal Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted Kranj (Slovenia).
If you’ve already explored our Online Handbook on Employment of Visually Impaired Persons, you may recognize the presenter of this lesson — she also appears on the handbook cover. Her contribution, as a visually impaired professional, reinforces the project’s guiding message: assistive technology plays an essential role in enabling both learning and meaningful employment.
Desktop Electronic Magnifier is a powerful and practical device that demonstrates the true value of assistive technology — not only in daily living, but also in professional environments. Equipped with high-resolution displays and advanced zoom and contrast settings, it supports a wide range of tasks:
• In the workplace, it’s ideal for reading printed materials, reviewing forms, navigating spreadsheets, and viewing visual data
• At home, it helps with reading labels, sorting mail, following recipes, and enjoying books and magazines
In this lesson, viewers are guided step-by-step through the device’s core features, with practical examples designed to build confidence and ease of use. The tutorial is especially relevant for visually impaired persons, but also offers insights for educators, employers, caregivers, and rehabilitation professionals.
