We are proud to present a new instructional video as part of the Erasmus+ project Keep It Short and Simple: Introduction to Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired Persons (KISS: Intro 2 AT 4 VIPs). This initiative is coordinated by the Split County Association of Blind People (Croatia), in partnership with La Brújula Formación Inclusiva S.L. (Spain) and the Intermunicipal Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted Kranj (Slovenia).
This lesson introduces handheld electronic magnifiers — compact and portable assistive devices designed to support persons with low vision in everyday tasks. These tools allow users to enlarge printed text, images, and objects, making reading and document handling more accessible both at work and at home.
The video compares two popular models of handheld magnifiers, highlighting their similarities and differences in functionality. Viewers will learn how these devices can assist with reading, navigating printed materials, and improving visual clarity. The tutorial also includes practical tips from the Vice President of the Split County Association of Blind People, offering firsthand insights into their use and benefits.
Handheld magnifiers are especially valuable for users who need flexible, on-the-go solutions to access printed information. By enhancing visibility and reducing strain, these tools promote independence and inclusion in professional and personal environments.
